P003: Electrical Engineer Consultant
CNC, Lathe, MasterCAM, Mains Electronics, 3D-Printing Fulcrum Product Design is a machine shop in Providence, RI focused on developing products for a climate-ready future. As a consultant at this shop, I helped with the design and construction of an industrial-scale 3D-Printer.
P003.1 The Machine
‘Monstr’ is a car sized 3D-Printer with a 5mm nozzle for fast extrusion and a pellet hopper eliminating the need for spools of filament. Print times are reduced to ~1hr for a chair sized object.
P003.2 Electronics Design
I designed and installed an 8-zone 220V heated bed capable of outputting 4KW of heating power.
P003.2 CNC Work
As part of my work at the shop, I trained on and operated a Fadal vertical milling machine, machining various parts for the printer, including this set of pillow blocks for the gantry Z-axis.
